THE FIRST SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKEUP CORRESPONDENCE COURSE IN QUÉBEC
These courses are only available by correspondence. M.S.F.X. STUDIO is not a school but a professional studio that specializes in special effects makeup and creatures. M.S.F.X. STUDIO offers special effects makeup courses by correspondence only. Our courses are intended for beginners as well as intermediate students who are interested in learning the art of special effects makeup and moulding and work on feature films and television studios.M.S.F.X. STUDIO offers three different basic courses that focus on several different techniques. At this time, only
BASIC I and BASIC II are available in french, soon in english.
BASIC III should be available in 2008. We also offer the possibility of buying our
products packages useful for all our courses.
Although all our courses are by correspondence, we offer technical assistance so that our students can study whenever and wherever they want and at their own pace. Students also have access to a qualified M.S.F.X. STUDIO employee. Courses are taught using fully illustrated handbooks featuring numerous coloured photos and drawings, step-by-step and easy-to-understand instructions and descriptions and that for every technique and procedure. A suppliers list is also included.
I suggest that all students take pictures of their creations to either show me in person or send me by mail so that I can evaluate and give constructive critic of their work. Help, assistance and advice is available to all students throughout their studies. If students have any questions or difficulties, I am always available to lend a hand, either by phone, e-mail or even in person (according to a pre-established schedule). Students who, after sending in a photo of their creation, successfully pass the different levels will be awarded a certificate, after each completed course.
In addition, M.S.F.X. STUDIO has created a name directory with students, past and present, to give them a chance and an opportunity to work in this industry. I have been known to delegate certain contracts to promising students who show great talent and a variety of skills. For students who live outside of Quebec, we can, whenever possible, refer special effects studios in your area.
